I always love when the contemporary m/m romance lets me know more about the characters than just what they like to do in bed with each other and I loved that this book takes care to show how passionate Nick (the narrator) is about paleontology and dinosaurs (Author calls herself a dinosaur nerd in the foreword, so I am going to take on faith that she actually knows well what she was writing about because I am not one and do not have an energy to go do some basic fact checking).
In fact, the book takes care to show the everyday work of paleontology expedition and I enjoyed reading about it before the heroes even start their relationship. Nick's real love interest only appears at about 20% of the story and before that I was wondering who that would be. Maybe that was the reason story felt a tad short length wise, even though it was not.
I enjoyed initial antagonistic chemistry between Nick and other guy, because it made complete sense - it was not over the top or anything, just their jobs put them at odds so to speak, it did not last too long, but then it transform into something sweet and lovely, so I liked that too.
I really really liked Nick's friendship with Boner and that he did not abandon it once he started a romance - those were refreshing dynamics that I do not often see in m/m romance. I liked secondary female characters.
Mystery had an unexpected, but believable solution too - mystery took a side ride in this one, it is mostly a romance.
