Romance and other things

Now when I finished this trilogy I am a little confused

Ancillary Mercy - Ann Leckie

So I am done and this book confused the crap out of me. I liked the first and second book well enough - I did not think they were saying something ground breaking and Hugo deserving nomination, but I liked them well enough. Colonialism and oppression are not awesome activities to engage in? No shit Sherlok, really. Former AI ship Breq was on the mission of revenge in the first book, but ended up learning what does it mean to become human and completely lost that "alien" edge in book two. Weirdly it made me being able to relate to her better in book two. In this book we see Breq and her motley crew engaging in some political maneuring and some pitiful attempt at doing a battle. It was enjoyable enough, do not get me wrong, and the ending is happy for everybody , author's claims to the contrary (Breq's claim to the contrary I mean), but it was such a whimpering ending. I was not expecting anything specific, but I wanted some bang. Maybe I did not get it. It does not matter what shape and form humans take, that's not what makes them human? Is that the moral of the story?

Oh and could somebody SHOOT Translator Zeiat and her fish already pretty please - was this supposed to be funny? It ended up being really annoying for me
